VINTAGE BY JOJO : MY COLLECTIBLES STORE ON EBAY
May 2007: THE DISCOVERY OF A NEW PASSION:
HUNTING FOR CHINA, DEPRESSION GLASS AND OTHER COLLECTIBLES!
Collecting English China, Depression and Carnival Glass, Elegant Glassware and Pottery is very very addictive. I was looking for a creative way to stimulate by book sales (see belo) and there is was.
Since then, I have accumulated more than 30 reference books and enough inventory to clutter my apartment. The fun thing about Collecting Glass and pottery, even if it's the toughest Collectible category to learn, is that you are continuously learning. So this will be a hobby that will last a lifetime.
I have a store on Ebay with a partner in Alma, Quebec, that does not speak a word of English. We have tons of fun!

HOW I GOT INTO THE USED BOOK BUSINESS...
I live in an area that used to be very poor, Pointe St-Charles, right by the Lachine Canal and Atwater market, 15 minutes away from downtown Montreal. Today, it is getting gentryfied at a very fast pace. One street away from my house, there is this wonderful organisation, the Great Shepperd Mission

They get all kinds of donations from well-off people around the city and the Mission use that money to feed the needy. I shop there often and became friends with it's director, a truly admirable man, Wayne Taillon.
I could not help but notice the tremendous amount of books he had for sale, a lot of them real gems. Well, I have always been a big reader since I was very very young, that kept me out of trouble! Wayne took me to the basement and guess what, there was over 5,000 books or all kinds, some of them real treasure such as Mark Twain's Letters from the Earth or Tom Sawyer Abroad, Tom Sawyer detective and other stories, etc. etc. I have a 1913 edition for sale! Lots of children books too...
